Meet Miss Jenna Who Found Inspiration from a Woman Soldier of the Civil War

I recently had the pleasure of receiving an email from a nice gentleman named Mr. David who shared with me that his lovely and talented daughter, Miss Jenna, will be studying library science after she graduates from high school.  Her inspiration for her career choice?  She read the letters of a woman soldier named Mary Ann Clark and her mother, Elizabeth Burbage. And now she wants to use what she has learned to form a platform from which she can share her knowledge with others throughout her future career.  This is what Jenna had to say:

There are so many important people from history who are forgotten and their stories are never told. It is my hope that one day everyone will know the story of Mary Ann Clark, a woman who joined the Confederate army during the Civil War. She has become an inspiration to me and I feel like she should receive the recognition that she deserves. I have even been influenced to study archives and pursue a career in this kind of work. I want to be able to tell the stories of the most courageous individuals who have been left out of the history books. This woman had to face many physical and mental struggles. I want her to be remembered for her bravery and courage to accomplish what she did.

Way to go, Jenna!  For the women soldiers of the Civil War, some were motivated by brave female fighters who came before them.  How awesome is it that they themselves are inspiring young ladies to follow their hopes and dreams 150 years later into our time.

The picture below is of Miss Jenna at the grave of Mary Ann Clark's mother, Elizabeth Burbage.  While there is a good deal of new research regarding Mary Ann's account, we are still looking for her resting place.

Until next formation.....rest.
